ATMA, Chittoor has conducted an awareness campaign on encouraging
alternative crops to Kharif Groundnut and intercropping with Redgram and gave wide publicity about the subsidy programmes of the Agriculture
Department to the farmers. The District Collector Sri G.Sai Prasad, I.A.S.
has released audio cassette produced
by ATMA on alternative crops and seed subsidies given by the Department of
Agriculture. Sri S.Rajasekhar Naidu, Project Director, ATMA and Sri
Rushendranath, Joint
Director of Agriculture inaugurated the campaign on 23-6-2003 at District
Headquarters.
In
this severe drought situations, in Kharif season, the farmers
should enlightened on alternative crops to Kharif Groundnut,
intercropping and also the seed availability and seed subsidy of different
crops given by the Government. In this view, ATMA, Chittoor has conducted
an awareness campaign in the southwest Monsoon influenced Mandals from
23-6-2003 to 26-6-2003 in coordination with the Department of Agriculture
though relevant Posters, Pamphlets distributed in the villages and cassette
played.
