Strengthening of ATMA Activities - Role of Farmer Groups

ATMA, Chittoor has conducted a one day National Workshop on the opportunities and advantages of enlarging activities of ATMA and also the Role of Farmer Groups in formulating the action plans of Agriculture and Allied Sectors. In this context a workshop on "Strengthening of ATMA Activities - Role of Farmer Groups" 5-10-2004 at Tirupati involving the project functionaries.

INAUGURAL SESSION

The workshop was inaugurated by Sri K.V.Satyanarayana, I.A.S., Director General, MANAGE, Hyderabad and presided by Sri S.S.Rawat, I.A.S., District Collector & Chairman of ATMA, Chittoor.

GROUP DISCUSSIONS

During the workshop, Group discussions with four groups on four different subjects were organised.
1. Farmers Organisations – Structure
2. Farmers Organisations – Research & Extension Linkages
3. Farmers Organisations – Marketing & Credit Linkages.
4. Farmers Organisations – Transfer of Technology
headed by Sri P.Chengal Reddy, Chairman, Federation of Farmers Association, Dr. A.Satyanarayana, Director of Extension, ANGRAU, Prof. R.P.Singh, Chairman, Agricultural Management Center, IIM, Lucknow, Sri D.Rushendranath, Joint Director of Agriculture, Chittoor. They had discussed on various issues and delivered their opinions.

Dr. R.K.Tripathi, Joint Director (Extn.), Directorate of Extension, GOI, New Delhi, Dr. M.N.Reddy Director (Extn. Mngt.) & National Consultant, NATP, MANAGE, Hyderabad, Dr. Mruthyumjayam from SAMETI, Hyderabd, Sri P.Narayana Chowdary, Retd. Addl. Director, Commissionerate of Agriculture, Hyderabad, Sri S.Rajasekhar Naidu, Project Director, ATMA, Chittoor and other Scientists, Line Department Officials, Project Directors from other Districts and Farmers Representatives were participated.
