The
principle crops of the district are Paddy, Groundnut and Sugarcane.
Sugarcane is being cultivated in 35000 hectares in the District under
irrigated conditions. The average yield of Sugarcane in the District is 35
M.T./Acres. Due to poor management, the farmers are not getting good yields.
|
|
REASONS FOR ADOPTION :
|
The farmer Sri G.Jayaram Naidu has taken up
cultivation of Sugarcane in an extent of one acre. He is a small and
marginal farmer and is a Sugarcane FIG member in the village. He has
obtained a record yield of 110 MT/Ac in his field.
The
farmer has applied FYM and Poultry manure 2 MT to the main field. The seed
material i.e., Co62175 is treated in Malathion solution for control of scale
insects. After 30-35 days, the farmer applied 19:19:19
4 bags and 50 Kgs urea.
The
crop has done with wrapped and popped on 30 day, 120 days and 160 days to
avoid lodging. The BTT officers frequently visited the field and given
timely advice.
|
|
Yielding:
|
The
BTT Officers i.e., Assistant Director of Agriculture, Agricultural Officer
has visited the plot and conducted crop cutting experiments and recorded
yield of 110 MTs/Ac which is three times to the normal yield. On an average
each cane attained an hight of 4.6 meters.

|
Marketing :
|
Direct marketing.
|
|
Achievement:
|
The farmers from the surrounding villages visited the field and had
discussions and known the reasons for getting highest yields and got
inspiration from the farmer. The ATMA facilitated the farmer with Best
Farmer Award on the Independence Day-2003.
