  IV.   SUCCESS STORIES DOCUMENTED:    

1. Mint Cultivation & Direct marketing in Rythu Bazar
2. Introduction of Improved variety and technology in Sericulture

4. Introduction of Tamarind (PKM-1) variety with Drip Irrigation

V. INNOVATIVE ACTIVITIES TAKEN-UP:

1.          A high yielding breed of ram called Rambouillet has been introduced as a Pilot study in Punganur Block. It gives more of meet and wool. So far 20 rams were distributed.
2.          Introducing Butax Spray for control of ticks and mites in cross breed cattle during 16th round of Jhanmabhoomi for 2 lakh cattle population through the Department of Animal Husbandry.
3.          Under crop shift programme, to encourage alternative crops in place of Paddy & Sugarcane, Maize cultivation is taken up under ID conditions in an extent of 400 Acres in Kharif-2002 and 1000 Acres in Rabi and distributed the seed on 100% subsidy through DATTC, Chittoor. Tie-up arrangements were made between Maize growers and District Poultry association for marketing and Minimum support price.
4.           
a.            All India Mango Show-2002 was organized in coordination with Ministry of Agriculture Government of India, New Delhi and Directorate of Horticulture from 3rd to 5th June, 2002.
b.            Public Private partnership of Mango FIGs with the Food World, Chennai & Bangalore.
c.            Mango Market Survey in the District is taken up for better assessment of Demand and Supply for the Mango and its by-products.
d.            Mango Campaign has been conducted in 10 Mango prominent Mandals and conducted seminars to enlighten the farmers on IPM.
5.          Soil Testing Software has been developed to give detailed information to the farmer a format on soil testing and fertilizers recommendations with different important fertilizers combinations in a format to a individual farmer, Mandal wise, village wise by ATMA, Chittoor.
6.     Community fodder development by Dairy Farmer Interest Groups.

 

Other activities
  • Identified the sites for construction of Farmers Information & Advisory Centre (FIAC) buildings in 20 Blocks and the work will be taken up shortly.

  • Exposure visit conducted to the Farmers Interest Groups at Block Level to Karnataka State, Tamilnadu State.

  • An intensive Campaign is taken up on the control of Red-hairy caterpillar with the involvement of Scientists.

  • For control of RHC in the Western Mandals, awareness programmes and demonstration plots for control of RHC by adopting IPM Measures is being taken up in collaboration with ANGRAU & DAATTC.

  • Conducted Three Governing Body Meetings and seven Management Committee Meetings.

  • Three days workshop was organised on O&M and six days training programme was conducted to 37 Officers of Agriculture & related faculties & Field survey was conducted for identification of Agro-Ecological Situations in the district in connection with SREP preparation and also completed the Strategic Research Extension Plan.

  • 4 Computer training programmes of 5 days duration was organised for line departmental officials.

  • Organised Orientation Workshop for all the Block Technology Team members in the District.

  • Given training to BTT Incharges and Officers at MANAGE, Hyderabad and IIM, Lucknow.

  • ATMA Management Committee Members and BTT members were trained on implementation procedures of ATMA objectives as per SREP.

  • Creating awareness to the farmers of Chittoor district about objectives and activities of ATMA through Pamphlets, New-Papers, Local cable T.Vs. and audiocassettes.

  • Published 'Rythe Raju' Bi-monthly Newsletter in Local language i.e, Telugu.

  • Participated in Kisan Melas conducted in Chittoor and Madanapalle and exhibited photos of ATMA activities.

  • Taken Field Programmes through the Line Departments.

  • 24 members of ATMA GB & MC members and innovative farmers participated in Krishi Expo-2002 conducted at New Delhi.

  • ATMA GB & MC members visited Khurda District of Orissa State as an Exposure visit to see the activities of ATMA as it was 1st Phase ATMA.
