Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) at district level is
responsible for all technology dissemination activities and the present
extension system should be a need based and thus the planning has to come
from the bottom level. Based on the strategies an activity plan /
work plan has to be worked out, so as to guide the field personnel in
their field programmes and on innovations in Technology Dissemination thus
Converging the ongoing activities of all the Line Departments under one
roof.
The
main objectives of the proposed plan :
- To identify location specific needs of farming
community for farming system based agricultural development.
- To set up priorities for sustainable agricultural
development with farming systems approach.
- To draw plans for production based systems
activities to be undertaken by farmers.
- To coordinate efforts being made by various line
departments, NGOs, farmers organisations and allied institutions to
strengthen research-extension of farmers linkages in the district to
promote collaboration and coordination between various States funded
technical departments.
- To facilitate the empowerment of farmers / producers
through assistance for mobilisation in planning, marketing, technology
dissemination, agro-procession etc.
- To facilitate market interventions for value
addition to farm produce.
PROJECT
AREAS :
The
entire district is the project area for implementation of the project and
it is implemented in all 20 Block Headquarters, through Farmer Advisory
Committees (FACs). The construction of FIAC buildings are in final
finishing stage and the functioning of the centre will start shortly. For
the time being the BTT Officers and FAC members are functioning from the
office of the Officer In-charge of the concerned FIAC.
